BS 1400: LG - 1 : GUN METAL / RED BRASS / BRONZE

Description :

Gun Metal commonly referred as Red Brass in USA, is an alloy of Copper, Zinc, Tin and Lead. In quantitative terms, this alloy is the largest application group of tin bronze family. Since ancient history, it has found a prominent place due to the ease of casting, good strength and corrosion resistance. The lead content improves the machining and gliding properties along with increased pressure tightness while Zinc improves its castability. Gun Metal is ideal for universal use and can be combined as required with all known installation materials like Copper, Steel and Plastic.


LG-1 is a general purpose leaded gun metal conforming to BS1400: LG1. LG1 has a reasonable strength, excellent machining properties and is not subject to dezincification. The addition of Zinc aids pressure tightness and castability. It has a less wear resistance than non leaded gunmetals.

AEPL produces BC-1, BC-6, LG-2, LG-4, LTB-2, RG-5, RG-7, CC-492K, C83300, C83400, C83450, C83500, C83600 , C83800, C84200, C84400, Gun Metal / Red Brass / Bronze alloy in the form of Certified Ingots weighing from 8 to 10 Kgs each.


QUALITY :

AEPL has implemented a quality system for Copper Based Alloys where all processes are monitored from start to finish i.e. from procurement of raw material, their combination, manufacturing processes, measurement and chemical analysis. We maintain our own laboratory with calibrated equipments to ensure delivery of certified ingots as per International Standards and satisfy clients' requirements. The equipment includes Optical Emission Spectrometer which uses arc and spark excitation technology. Samples of test reports are available upon request.


VALUE ADDED SERVICES :

AEPL manufactures and supplies Copper Alloys products to Domestic as well as International Markets. Located at a single site, our smaller foundries are equipped to use in-house certified ingots and create complex shapes of Copper alloy castings and turn them into finished components using Drilling, Grinding and CNC turning centres.
