Forgings made from Copper based alloys offer a number of advantages over products made by other processes. Hot forgings are used in virtually every industry: pipe fittings, domestic faucets, radiator valves, gas appliances, window and door hardware being merely a few typical examples of the products which can be manufactured by this process. Good tolerances are maintained during forgings, minimizing the need for machining during the final component production, while the severely wrought structure ensures high mechanical properties. As a result of hot working, forged materials have superior density and freedom from flaws.
CW612N is an high copper content alloy which has excellent hot deformability characteristic and good combination of strength and corrosion resistance. Commonly known as engraving brass, it has excellent free cutting properties due to the addtion of lead. It is recommended where high flow smoothness is required along with further machining.
